'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
No computer was stirring, not even a mouse.
The thumb drives were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Saint Internet soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of avatars danced in their heads.
And mamma with her iPod, and I with cell zeroed,
Had settled our brains into auto-sleep mode.
When out on the lawn there arose such a chatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Flipped open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the crest of the new-fallen snow
Made a virtual bright screen of objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.
With a little old driver, not likely a threat,
Then I knew in a moment it must be Saint Net.
More rapid than junk mail his power pack came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Slashdot! Now, Sandbox! Now, Dotcom and Scammer!
On, Browser! On, Botnet! On, Snarky and Spammer!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now post away! Post away! Post away all!"
As drug scams that o’er the wild internet crowd,
When they meet with a takedown, mount to a cloud.
So up to the house-top the chargers they flew,
With the sleigh full of gizmos, and Saint Internet too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The clicking and pinging of each little hoof.
As I grabbed for my web cam, and was turning around,
Down the chimney Saint Internet came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his boot,
And his clothes were all garnished with tokens and woot.
A bundle of widgets he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was whispering “yes,â€
And the beard of his chin hid his rad GPS.
The end of a stylus he held tight in his teeth,
And a wind rose encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a blog writer’s face and a proof reader’s grin,
And he smirked more than laughed, as if stealing a PIN!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old sprite,
And I laughed when I saw him, in utter delight!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Fixed our electronics, then turned with a jerk.
And giving a thumbs-up to say all was right,
Without making a comment, he vanished from sight!
Leapt to his carrier, to his team gave the code,
And away they all flew like a blog poster’s load.
But I heard him exclaim, as he zoomed thru the night,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good site!"
